I just got a foot tattoo done on Saturday May 29th…I am on vacation and want to go to the beach. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to keep my tattoo from being too exposed from the sun and keep it from getting submerged in the water. I know most would say stay away from it…but I would really like to take my 2 year old there. My thought was putting a ziploc bag around it with tape around my ankle to keep the water out with maybe a water shoe over it to keep the sun out of it. But they are tight and not sure if it will hurt it. It’s only been a few days but is already itching and healing. Please help me with this problem. Thank you.

Stay away its as simple as that. It really isnt worth damaging your tattoo, which the beach will do, for the sake of a day out.

I would stay out of the sun/water. I wouldn’t wrap it in plastic but with medical bandage and tape. I wouldn’t wear shoes either. I got a foot tattoo on May 21st and I still am not wearing shoes- it’s still peeling. You have the rest of your life to go to the beach. It’s not worth ruining your tattoo over.

Hello and welcome to the forums. Cornish is right. If you want your tattoo to look as good as the day you got it, stay away from the beach. Salt water is a tattoo killer. you should get a nice pair of shoes and keep them on to remind you to stay away. you need atleast 2 weeks to heal and thats minimum. you might have to find a replacement for you during the beach part of your vacation. Hate to bust your bubble. Hope this helps. Post some pics of your ink, i would love to check it out. Wait a second….. if its bad work, maybe you do want to go in the water. just kidding, have great vacation and good luck with the ink.
