I got this a couple weeks ago. It’s been 20 years this April since we lost my Mom to lupus. I’ve been thinking of having the dates added but, not sure where to put them. Also, I’ve been thinking of incorporating the the lupus ribbon into it. I’m not sure how the sash would look in purple(color of the ribbon) or if I should just do a lupus ribbon somewhere else. Any thoughts?

The tattoo stands well on it’s own. I try to persuade my clients not to add dates to memorial tattoos because of the negative aspect of the death date. I think memorial tattoos should reflect the life the person lived, not how and when they died. That would be like getting a smashed up car tattoo to memorialize a person that died in a car wreck or a syringe to remember how your friend died of an overdose.

Celebrate the life, not the death.
