I have a tattoo of a pink bow and I really like it, however I want to get pink flowers next to it as it would look better IMO, so I’m wondering if it’s possible to change the color of the bow. The bow is kind of a medium pink (kinda like a faded hot pink if that makes sense), so surely the tattoo artist could tattoo over the pink with purple ink?? I’ve asked someone about this who has tattoos on a body mod forum and he said I’m in luck as purple will work over pink, and that if the artist went over the pink with a deep violet it would essentially turn purple.

I’m aware that you can’t tattoo light colors over dark colors, but surely if I tattooed over the medium pink with a color much darker (e.g. deep violet) it would be okay?

Hope this isn’t too confusing. 🙂

As you say, it’s pretty straight forward. You can’t tattoo light over dark, but you can tattoo dark over light. The results may not behave 100% predictably, though, so I’d recommend at least getting a tattooist that is used to covering up ink.

I spoke to my artist this morning and he said it should be fine.
