Basically this was my first tattoo and since getting it ive seen alot more artistic work and i just think mine looks bland and has no real detail. Is there anyway i could cover it up or make it look more artistic in anyway?

Find a really good tatoo artist and have some great infill work done, clouds, water, skulls, fire, whatever you fancy.

Get it lightened and start again.
we have a pitcher here in atlanta baseball from australia had similar terrible tribal, he got brandon bond to do japanese all around it, looks pretty good

I have seen some pretty nice cover-ups or fill-ins on similar tattoos. Take a look on the Internet at some of the before and afters and you will probably get some ideas and inspiration. Good luck and I hope you post pics when you’re done! 🙂
