The skull tattoo has no outline at all. There are a lot of tattooers that can not make a solid line but kill it in portrait work all day. Maybe she shades like a mothereffer. Just sayin.

Anyway, that tattoo is fixable. Start shoppin around by looking at actual tattoos on people (since the portfolio-shopping route didn’t work out). When you see a nice tattoo, ask for the name of the tattooer. If they’re happy with their tattoo, clients are usually quick to recommend their tattooer. They might even have their artist’s business card on them.

maybe youre right but theres other pics in her gallery that have really dark crisp line work.

im no expert but even if she does shade like crazy. BLACK lines like that are going to be pretty hard to cover over, especially when theyre that sloppy. right?

I think we are missing something here, there is minimum skill set for tattooists. If they have been trained properly it wouldn’t be the case of “don’t worry about outlines, we will let you go straight to shading”. Outlining is used in the majority of tattoos and I know over in Oz, you don’t one tattooist doing the outline, then the shading specialist does the shading, then colour fill or black and white artist come in for their part. The only thing pretty universal is the junior apprentice turns up at the end to help clean up. If a tattooist can’t do basic outline work, they can’t tattoo.

I have seen people walk into a shop looking for a job with a portfolio full of images grabbed right off the internet. We caught them because they happened to use pictures of tattoos done by a friend of one of our artists. You should have seen the look on his face when we brought up the website he had pilfered from right there in the interview. It’s always good policy to have all the artists look over portfolios before hiring someone. Some times you catch them because of inconsistency in the portfolio. If it seems to contain 3 or 4 different styles some thing might be weird. There is no fool proof way of authenticating a portfolio.

Did she have other pieces like that one in her portfolio?

Anyway, butterflies are easily fixable. Hope you didn’t pay her.
You my need to let it heal before doing anything about it.

Dude post a link to her work. It does look like it was done with a pen but there a bit on redness so it’s probably real.

Like Hylland said she probably has fluffed up her portfolio up a bit. People like that don’t stay in one place to long. Best thing to do about people like that is to get their name out there that she sucks and also take a crowbar to her knees.

Oleg is amazing so at least if you’re going to steal, do it from a great artist. I was supposed to get tattoed by him next Sunday in Mass. but he had visa problems and can’t get in the country so unfortunately he cancelled.
