It will improve slightly with time, I wouldn’t touch it for at least 5 months personally. Then you could have any missing colour put back in. It will always be scarred now though I’m afraid.

I dont know what this is that you have but you want to give it plenty of time to heal so you don’t aggravate the problem more and so you can find out if this is an infection over the ink or something under it.

Sherav, one of our mods should step in and help you when he has time- I know he has some stuff going on but he can be more help I think.

but i’m almost certain its a keloid. lawd! 5 months is a long time but i guess it will be worth it to make certain it won’t get any worse. what if it gets flat b4 5 months?

Keloids can be massaged down. Make sure there are no open areas on the scar before you start. Use some lotion or massage oil for less friction, my opinion the more friction the better. You basically massage the scar with your thumbs pushing down and across the scar. Do it a few minutes a day. Over time the built up fibrous tissue will soften and flatten out. The scar may be there forever but it won’t be hard or raised. As far as touch up, from the pics I’m assuming you are of African-American decent. You are prone to keloid again. You definetly need to completely heal for touch ups. Hope this helps, good luck.

thankyou. yes i am of african american descent. even though i have that keloid i’m most certain that it was caused from when i accidently scratched the tattoo wen i was out drinkin with friends wen it was in its healing stages. so its not like the keloid develop naturallly it was caused by my own actions.so do you think it would stil RE- keloid if i touched up that area if i wated 5 months and it was flat?

Keep in mind you are asking a bunch of strangers on the internet for medical advice. If you are really worried about this put the internet down and go see a dermatologist. s/he will be able to tell you that thing is, what you need to do to make it heal and what will happen if you try to tat it again in the future.
