i am getting a second tattoo, a large piece on my right side/rib area, and for this tattoo i want a st. michael banishing the devil image. it is a very popular image…but i want mine to be ‘darker’ and have a touch of ‘gothic’ in it…especially in the devils face of anguish from being defeated by st. michael…

i can not find anything i like…does anyone have any ideas from me or a link to something similar??

BTW: for those of you who do not know the famous depiction of the archangel st. michael here is a version of it (kinda pussy version though! lol)

Hi

The issue you have is that the orig painting was done by Raphael who was a Renaissance artist so ‘gothic’ simply did not apply in the modern context.

When he painted it he wanted to show the beauty of St Michael in earthly form. This means that the paintings taken from that period are quite ‘pretty’.

My advice is take a look at this artist and get a sense of warrior angel from it then get Satan drawn up as you prefer as the positioning will not be too hard for a pro artist.

Here are a few links that might help inspire. They just show different positions and styles that you can adopt.

They can be humanised but again it will help your artist have a more modern concept of G-d’s warrior.

Take Care

I think a customised version of that would look killer! esp if you can get Satan to look cool… (well dependant on your standpoint)

Colour or greyscale?

Why would color make it anymore difficult? If you have a cometent artist it shouldnt be a problem.
