I’ve had a couple of ideas that I’ve been working on for the last couple years that I really want to get done. One is this:

    crossscriptures.jpg

with a budding rose with a long stem behind it at an angle. I’m having a hard time finding a good tattoo rendering of a realistic looking newly budding dark red rose though.

I don’t know if I want to keep the cross this color or change it to a black and white with the dark red rose diagonally behind it. opinions?

Also do you think all this would be too much for a forearm piece? The picture of the cross above came from an upper arm tattoo, so I’m not sure.

    Hi

First of all that is a very nice cross and I have sen a few of similar styles.

The main issue is the smaller you go the more it has a chance of blurring with age and risk becoming a blob if too small.

If you have small forearms I would recommend somewhere bigger to ensure the tattoo is not cramped – you will need plenty of space especially for the rose to be added as well.

As for the rose you do not need to have a tattoo of it – take some photos of budding roses to the artist and they will design a rose to suit the background.

The colour scheme is personal choice but a black and shade cross (with white highlights) would look stunning with a red rose bud in the background.

It will make a storming tattoo.

thanks. Yeah I am liking the idea of a black/white scheme with a dark red rose in the background. I think I’ll just have to go into the shop and ask them what they think about size issues.
