About a month ago I started on a japanese style dragon on my rib. After my first session it only took about 4 days for my ink to settle in. I took really good care of it and did the same thing after my second session, but its been about three weeks since that second session and the shading has settled but the lines still havent. The tattoo was my first and it came out great, Im just wandering if its normal for ink to take this long to settle or if something is wrong. I would call and talk to my artist, but Im currently in Europe.

A photo would help but a tattoo on average takes 2 weeks to heal but can be as long as 4 weeks depending on a few factors
Your general health
The depth that the artist went (deeper tattoos can take longer to heal)
The aftercare – you need to make sure there is no sign of infection.
What type of ink was used some inks take longer to heal than others – especially reds.
