Ok, so tomorrow will mark 2 weeks ago that I got the Kanji script on my left arm touched up. I have been extremely careful with it in the shower, not letting the direct spray of the shower hit it. Heck, in fact, I’ve tried to not even let it get very wet at all in the shower. But just a few minutes ago in the shower, after lathering up my lufa with body wash, I accidentally and instinctively ran the lufa over my left arm and over my touched up Kanji script. Panicking, I IMMEDIATELY wiped off the soapy body wash from the tattoo with a dry towel. So, long story short…Is that something that I’m going to want to avoid doing again until it’s time for it to be okay to wash my left arm or should it be okay to resume washing my left arm? If it’s not okaay, how long should I wait before I resume running a body wash-lathered lufa over that arm in the shower on a daily basis?

well i found that after 5 days the tattoo was healed relitivly well to get wet, i think its the scabs that shouldnt get wet?

but 2 weeks is totally fine, your skin is healed and nothing can go wrong, and the lougha (loo-pha?) might have taken some top layer of skin (epidermis?) and not affected the tattoo

but i guess to prolong the life of the tattoo you could just hand wash that part, but if you sat and scrubbed extra hard for an hour you probably wouldnt see any fading.

anyway thats my experience with water and 2 week old tattoo’s, i’d have left somebody way more knowledgeable to answer, but its been a few hours since you posted and figured it would be harsh to leave you panicing still 😛

so nothing to worry about, it has probably healed =]

i am presuming that after 2 weeks that it has scabbed and peeled, and i suppose the skin is just shiny now, then wash it normally…… just dont scrub hard at it.

No, not at all. Well, ok, maybe I embellished a bit. I don’t avoid washing it altogether, but I don’t go scrubbing at it and treating it as if it’s completely 100% healed and that I can now go frolicking to the beach and in hot tubs with it and stuff.

LOL…I thought someone would get a kick out of that. But yeah, like I said, it’s still going to be a month or so before I go walking around letting the direct sunlight hit it.

Well, it’s still overly large Kanji in a prime area for a better tattoo, but, hell, at least it ain’t crooked anymore!

It was never crooked to begin with, smartass! :)….lol…just kidding. I do kind of agree with you on the placement. With that Kanji being in a prime location like that, I have totally dead-ended any possibility of a full sleeve or anything better than just a simple kanji symbol being on that arm. However, I do love it (especially with it being touched up and not being crooked and pink anymore…;) ) and I have no desire to get it covered up. However, I do like your initiative to help and if you would like to help me out in another area (pardon the pun), I am looking for a cool cross design for the inside of my right forearm. (I am not willing to negotiate on the placement (I’m dead-set on the inside of the right forearm), but I don’t have any idea as to what color I want it to be or what style I would like it to be, so if you would like to help me brainstorm some ideas, I would be very appreciative! That goes for you too, Matthew! And anyone else in this thread or on this site.

Get it inked to look like a disco ball, Tat2dBaldDude presents his technicolor dream cross!

No, seriously, that’s not an idea I can really help you with man. I think of crosses the same way I think of kanji–a total waste of a tattoo. I just usually don’t say that as loud because people have a right to believe what they want, and tend to throw shit at you if you say you don’t like their iconography.

    Love. Peace. Metallica.

Tattoos look great, and you haven’t completely cut your self off from having a full sleeve you just narrowed your choices down to not much

Yeah, but I don’t think I really have the desire for full sleeves. I think they would’ve had to have been something that I wanted from the very start. Besides, having now been a tattoo fan for 7 years, I have identified and recognized the fact that I am more of a fan of individual/seperate pieces as opposed to sleeves. And that is not, in any way, a reflection of me saying that full sleeves are bad. They’re not bad at all. Ain’t a thing wrong with ’em. I’m just saying they’re not for me personally.
