Hello everyone, i have a few small tattoos, on my ribs, back, chest arms. But i decided i want to do a full leg piece.

I want something colorful, and going from my ankle to right under my knee.

I recently went on vacation to africa and did a few safaris and had a blast, and i fell in love with the scenery and animals. So i would like an african animal type theme.

I want the main piece to be a male lion, but how else do i plan the rest of the tattoo? i want colorful, i was thinking like a red and orange backround because the sunsets their are beautiful. And There is a certain type of tree that i have a ton of pictures of that were all over that i thought looked awesome, so maybe some how incorporate those trees in it aswell.

So mostly i just want to find out how to design and plan a full piece. The shop that is going to do this piece is 2 hours away so i was trying to get some ideas before i drive just to get it drawn up.

So any ideas would help a ton, as i have no clue how to even plan something out like this.

Personally I’d go full detail and photo-realistic.

A prairie with grass, sky and sun in the background and the trees. A lion or two in the foreground, with birds and smaller animals in the background.

Guess the general theme would be something like: http://www.davestravelcorner.com/photos/tanzania/African-Lion-Thorn-Tree.jpg

with a touch of http://photomural.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/aflio_1.jpg
or http://www.wildimages.biz/uploads/gallery/05890-20601-two-male-african-lions-probably-brothers-nuzzling-panthera-leo-rs-tanz.jpg
or something.

Depending on your general darkness, you could have it feeding on a gazelle or something.

If you explained something like that to the artist, they could draw something up for you. You might have to go there just so they can measure your leg to see how big of a canvas they have to work with.
