…another crab body dug into rocks, why? i just bought one new hermit crab, and now i have two? and its not just a shell of one becuase it is heavy. It doesnt have a shell on it, its just the body. I think they were sharing a shell, but why the sudden choice to kill/attack the other one?

They may have been fighting over the shell when you got them, and already both been inside there. Sounds like the fight is still going on. You should always have a supply of extra, slightly larger shells in the tank for your hermt crabs, as you never know when they will need to move up to a bigger size.

maybe..one really small one was in it and the other found it and got it and the other grew bigger and they started sharing and then they didn’t want to no more and then started fighting about it maybe.

maybe the bigger crab fought for the shell and won, or the other way around and lost, plus maybe it was hungery, god only knows and the other crab won’t say a thing why or what happened.

It could have shared a shell but died a natural death then was evicted after death.
