Hi

I have a thing for learning Japanese. Have no reason to….. dont plan on going and i dont know anyonoe Japanese i just think it would be cool to learn something other than the more common (and probably more lilkely to be useful) one like Spanish/French/Italian etc.

Downloaded a couple of learning CDs. Yes its a new language so i dont expect it to be easy, has anyone else learnt it and would share their findings + results?!

cheers

I wouldn’t even attempt it personally, but my brother-in-law is fluent in Japanese. He moved to Japan when he was in his mid 20s and stayed there for about 10 years. He ended up getting a job teaching English to Japanese kids. He just moved back to the US about 5 years ago w/ his new wife (who only spoke Japanese when he met her). So in short, he was quite successful in learning Japanese. He hasn’t found much professional use for it since he moved back to the US though.
