This isn’t specifically about Zinn’s koi, but why the popularity of them? It seems like every website, book, flash sheet, and shop artist have a zillion different ones that all essentially look the same. I’m not knocking, I’m just curious as to where they come from and what meanings are carried with them.

I know it sounds weird, but I’m actually okay with the crookedness of the lines. Granted, it’s only because the artist who did them was still learning, I got all three of the mentioned inks for free – so it’s definitely true you get what you pay for. Ultimately, I’m sleeving my arms, so each of these will end up worked into a greater design.

My tattoos all have meaning, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t fun. For me, the fun of my tattoos is the look on peoples faces when I explain the deeper meanings of my tattoos, and the semi-self-righteous feeling I get when someone else understands them but hasn’t had the cojones to go the distance.
