I like my tattoos; I don’t want them gone. However, I’m an enlisted Marine and I’d like to try for an officer commission. That means, everything you can see outside my green shirt has to go.

How much do you think this will cost me, and what are the odds of getting (pretty damn close to) 100% clear?

I’ve estimated (based on square inch) anywhere between $2,500 and $10,000.

Oh, and one more thing- does it cost anything to see a dermatologist to get their opinion?

Thanks in advance for any/all replies.

I can tell you I have had 2 tats removed. My place charges $100 per sq inch so a 3 inch tat was $300 to laser the first time and each time it was reduced by $25 dollars. It would never go below $100 so with 14 treatments it cost me about $2300. I would say yours is closer to $10,000 removal but it just depends what your place charges.

When I had a consultation they charged me $50 but if I decided to go with them they said they would apply that $50 towards the tattoo removal. You can call around and ask how much it is for a consultation. Each place is different.
Also, it hurts like a mo-fo and with that much coverage I would think about numbing cream and doing ice packs.

    Hi

I am gonna ask a real dumb question – can you not wear long sleeves? Who will care about your tattoos when on the ground in combat?

The laser treatment on those sizes is going to be a lot of money. The sessions can also be a month or more apart so you will not see any immediate effects. The pigment slowly breaks down.

You would be lucky to see change from that 10k if I am being honest – those are some big tattoos and would take multiple treatments. The odds of 100% clear are not guaranteed it depends on what is in the pigments and only a professional could analyse and tell you that.

The ink looks great I would leave alone if at all possible.

yeah, also I had to wait about 6-8 weeks in between treatments so it took me a few years to get it removed (not only to save up the money but fit time into my schedule).
while the ink is gone, you can still see a scar from the tattoo but i think that has alot to do with the tattoo being too deep to begin with
