Can you all tell me what style my tattoo is?
I want another in a similar style but I don’t know what the style is.

It’s not polynesian, aztec, or anything else I can find.
When looking for designs its always the temporary tattoo designs that come closest.
Thanks for any help.
Justin
yes is it similar to the African style but that seems to be a bit more intricate, what I am looking for is more blocky and basic shapes i.e:

Can anyone help? Or perhaps anyone knows where else I can ask?
Thanks.
Hi Euromast
Sorry for the delay I have spent a number of hours trying to pin this one down.
I have been through a number of tattoo styles;
African (heavy influence)
Aztec (light influence)
Inca/Mayan (light influence)
Polynesian (initial thoughts were this but closer examination shapes are wrong)
Middle Eastern (Doesn’t fit except some of the Saphardic Jews had a similar pattern from Ethiopia)
Tibetan (def ruled this one out)
None of these fit the above exactly. I think it is a custom piece that has (heavily) African with (light) Mayan and Polynesian roots (the ‘fat face’ mask is an indicator but the shaping tends to be more East African in design) or was inspired by their art.
The Mayan piece was

Which although more detailed it does sort of have the same flavour.
My advice is take the style to an artist and say you want something in a similar theme it will not be too hard for them to do as the shapes are quite basic but very nice overall effect.
Take Care

i was just thinking that this looked like a sun so i search african sun tattoo and look what i found ๐
thats exactly the same immage… well done ๐
Yes my website ๐ I find that if I search for aztec I get my own site ๐
I have also had sugestions that it could be polynesian, tahitian, marquesian and maori styles.
The face in the middle was added by the tattoo artist, it was just a blank space, so I said stick a funny face in the middle. In the original design the serations were not there and the design was 4 circles, I asked for 2 of the circles to be made serated.
I find that not many tattoo desgins are this blocky of simple black shapes, many cetic designs are like it, but then they are not blocky but curly.
Once I found a site with a load of armband designs in a similar style but I don’t know where it was or what I typed in to get there.
