Hello Everyone,
I got my first tattoo about 4 years ago, it’s predominantly green and every now and then it gets itchy and just the tattoo raises up from the skin around it. It’s quite weird and goes away after a while, I thought maybe I just had a reaction to the green ink because my other tattoos have never done it, but in the last year I have gotten 3 larger tattoos in different colours and they do the same thing, they’re completely healed and I had no problem at the time of tattooing. One of them is quite intricate and it’s bizarre to see how just the outline raises up.
It doesn’t really bother me but it’s making me have second thoughts about the size of future tattoos.
Does anyone else have this happen? Could it be the brand of ink the artist used?
Hi Zoe
It is prob a reaction to the inks used – if you check out my free ebook (click my sig) it will list the common ingredients for all ink colours and the ones to be avoided.
Feel free to use the list contact your artist and see what is being used in the inks.
Other issues could be a form of dermatitis if you are in contact with any chemicals or a reaction skin creams that contain certain ingredients such as lanolin or zinc.
Some ppl react to vit e in creams as well – have to narrow it down.
Tattoo ink allergy is not something so rare as to be discounted but if causing you major concerns I would suggest seeing a skin specialist to confirm.
Take Care

yes, this happened to me too. It would get itchy sometimes and raise up. I think when it got too wet it would raise up too.
its never happened to me but it has my partner and its only know and again.
i think his was when he went bowling ( semi pro ) the oils from the lanes would make all his arm go like it and his tattoo would look like it was popping out his arm. freaky .
