Just got my tattoo done today on my calf. It’s a tribal dragon up the side of my left calf (almost covers the whole side from my ankle to my knee). The session was about an hour and 45 minutes, and strangely was the most painful tattoo I’ve got (I have two others: one on my right arm and one on my right thigh).
Anyways I finished the session at 3:45-4:00ish and its 12:15 now and the tattoo is still a bit red in the area, a bit swollen and a bit warm to the touch. He worked the area pretty good he got the ink in there really well.
It’s been about 18 months since I got my last tattoo so I dont exactly remember how they heal and so I just wanted to see if this was a normal thing or not. I’m sure it is because it is a clean reputable shop but just wanted to make sure. Thanks
Yeah it’s normal. No worries….I can’t exactly give you a set amount of minutes but it’ll generaly be “warm” for about a day.
Hi
24 – 48 hrs is fairly normal it depends on how much the area has been worked and the swelling will go down accordingly.
The first week will see plenty of peeling so don’t worry about that but if you find it still hot to the touch after 2 days you may need to get a Dr to check it over for infection.
Take Care
Matthew
