I have a very small tattoo of an ampersand on the outer side of my left index finger, it’s my first tattoo on my finger and i’ve been told that finger tattoos don’t last very long. However it’s not directly on a joint, its not on the palm side of my hand, and it doesn’t touch any of my other fingers. Will it still fade as quickly as finger tattoos usually do, or will it last longer?

every piece of ink will fade with time, but in your case then everyones skin is different and also how you treat your hands will play a roll in the longevity of the piece.

in easy terms, its hard to say how long it will last…. sorry

    Outlaw is right on it.

The hands shed skin faster than most areas because of the rough contact they have and the amount of scrubbing and washing they receive. Also contact with sunlight.

Your finger tattoo could last anywhere between 2-7 years but usually hand tattoos need a touch up at around the 3-5 year mark whereas most other tattoos is 10-15 depending on how well thy are looked after.

If it is a small piece it will be no big deal to have it touched up.

The above is a very rough guess as everybody is different and some hold ink much better than others.
