I think this one’s for the experts. This is really embarrassing and has been a serious issue for me and I’m sure many others who have the same problem. I hope you can share some solid advice.
I have discoloration on my underarms. I have tried everything, spent thousands on dermatologists but it only comes back. Then I thought why don’t I just have it tattooed.

Can this be tattooed such that it looks like evenly colored skin?
Is there a way to use the art of tattooing to remedy my problem?
Is it possible?
I will be very grateful for your insights and suggestions.
Hi
Pigmentation differences in the armpit is a lot more common than most ppl realise – mainly it is not commented because ppl do not tend to notice as hair is in the way.
It is caused by a lack of distributon of menalin in the skin. It is quite common for ppl to have a different shade of skin there and frankly I do not see it as any big deal. Your armpit looks fine.
However in answer to your question yes you can be tattooed there. They may get a pigment that is close but will never be exact.
Also you need to see a medical tattooist who deals in skin pigment not a general artist – unless they have experience in that field.
The problems you will face are;
Pain – it is very painful area to tattoo – also it is close the lymph nodes so expect a lot of swelling and soreness.
The ink may not sya in as well as you would like due to sweat forcing the pigment out.
Difficult to get an exact colour match – tattoos fade anyway your skin does not – don’t want to end up with a band of dark colour.
Prone to infection – large build up of bacteria so maybe slower to heal.
Finally it may damage some of the sweat glands – not a biggie but ever notices you sweatr slightly less through a tattoo than non tattooed parts of the body. The armpit is a major area of heat release – like a self cooling system.
Speak with a medical pro – I know it can be done but would ask i it is really worth it.
Take Care

Thanks Matthew. I don’t think there are medical tattooists in Manila, where I am.
What if I just go for an ordinary tattoo instead?
I am curious, do you lift your arm up alot and expose your armpit or wear alot of sleeveless shirts?
If I saw this on the beach I wouldn’t look twice but I guess we all have things that bother us about our bodies.
Good luck!
Hi
Yes a normal tattooist could tattoo that area but the issue you have is getting the colour to match your skin tone.
That will not be an easy thing to do.
Personally i really don’t see the worry – I am covered head to toe in scars and I don’t worry about it.
Good luck
Matthew
