gday all im heading to thailand in a couple of weeks and its a new country for me so i need a new tat.
iv found Wat Bang Phra (Tattoo temple) where a monk tattoo’s you with a meter long stick with a needle on the end
the problem is they use the same needle and use the one pot of ink no tat is worth getting infected so im leaning to not getting it done but if anyone has any info or there own expereance with this any info would be great
if not i was going to find a clean looking shop to get one done
    any info would be great
    thanks fatty

    Hi Fatty

Sorry in delay in responding was checking out the issues from some friends who regulary travel and work in Thailand.

They said it is a big no-no to get tattooed out there (even in the studios).

I do not mean to offend any Thai’s but from what I can gather hepatitis/HIV is a major problem especially amongst needle users.
The fact that you emntioned a single needle and ink pot and no autoclave would send me running for the hills before I let them near me with it.

Personally I would not get tattooed by anybody unless I could see them setting the equipment out of sterile packages in front of me.
Trad tattooing is a great thing but the risk of infection or disease is simply too high a risk – stick with studios you know to be safe.

    Enjoy your trip.

    Take Care

    ….dude, no. Just…no.

If you want a traditional tattoo, go to Hawaii. There’s tons of studios up there that give tattoos in the traditional manner, but use modern sterile techniques.

Unless, of course, you have a burning desire for AIDS. Mmmm mmmm mmm, those are some tasty AIDS.

    hey fatty,

i am in the same thinking as you on the hygeine of the traditional style tattooing withthe push stick.

i have a very good friend who is tattooing out in pattaya, thailand, its his winter home as he owns a studio in benidorm spain, but his fasmily are in thailand, he says there are hundreds of electric tattoo shops out there but even he says that some of them are dodgy….
here is a link to his thailand website, when he tattoo’s over there he donates any proffits to the local charities, and he is 100% clean and hygienic…. and his english is superb lol.. ๐Ÿ˜€
