So I got my first tattoo on my 18th birthday, about a year ago. I have another one and love it, but I don’t think I thought the first one through as thoroughly as one should. My friend drew it up for me and I couldn’t really say no, he was so excited to have done it. So when I went to the shop they traced it and put it on!
I like the idea of it, I mean because it was my idea, but it didn’t really turn out the way I really wanted it to. Its supposed to be headphones with the cord and stars incorporated in it,and he threw in a dreamcatcher (you know native americans) in the middle. Definitely doesn’t look like a dream catcher, and to me it looks like a little kid drew on me with a marker. The stars at the top are not really stars, and they actually smeared. Yes, smeared, you can’t tell in the picture but the seafoam green color smeared. Here is the picture.

here’s my other one just to show (this is right after it was done…its yellow toward the outer edge. amazing color)

I’m contemplating on whether I should just get it covered up, or I’m not sure. I’ve only had it for a year, so I didn’t know if it was possible to do it so soon; but I want to feel proud to show off my tattoos, not be embarrassed by it. I remember when I showed a friend, she tried to scratch off the smeared part of the stars with her fingernail. I’m at a loss right now to figure out what to do with it! Any tattoo artists suggestions?
First off not a tattoo artist.
However I think with a skilled artist you can get it reworked so it gives a much better showing of what you want it to be.
They could also maybe add some colour and extra stars and such to the dream catcher and more definition to the ear pieces, and bolden out the wire etc.
In the right hands that could be a much better tattoo.
Alternatively you could get a cover up but it would be a pretty extensive piece.
There are a few skilled artists on here who might be able to offer more indepth help – but i really think a rework and added detail would make that tattoo sparkle.

that was i was kind of thinking, i mean the headphones look like the cheap ones you can buy at walmart for a dollar. i want some BA bose headphones if anything man.
i would be willing to pay for a coverup, so i can be happy looking at my tat for the rest of my life.
but thanks for the suggestions!!! that really helps!
just from looking there is certainly scope for a coverup.
there is plenty of space and no massive black lines.
Go see a pro artist and get them to have a look and make suggestions.
Lol the stars look like little spaceships hehehe, sorry lol, you’ll be able to get that reworked or covered completely no problemo.:)
they do! i’ve never even thought about that. lol awesome.
thanks so much for the advice from everyone, i can’t wait to get it re-done! i’ll post a pic when i get it done. it might be a month or two.
THANKS!!!
