Hi all
I have a new tattoo on the front of my leg near my ankle its 6 days old and im concerned its not heeling well. Its still very red a bit swollen, if i use cream it starts to weep clear liquid im using less then a pea size amount. If i dont put anything on it cracks. Part of the scab came off and it has tried to scab over again.
Any help would be much welcomed, running out of ideas.
Thank you

Post a picture. It’s normal for foot and lower leg tattoos to stay swollen longer because of reduced circulation. As long as it’s not puffy and red you should be ok. Try switching to an unscented lotion. Use sparingly.
Ankle tattoos do indeed heal slowly, but if it’s red and swollen, plus weeping, I’d say it could be infected. If you feel a fever at all, go get antibiotics.
And make sure to clean the tattoo properly, do NOT pick on the scabs (if the scabs fall off too early you will get new ones and you may lose ink and the healing will take longer, plus any dirty fingers or finger nails is a huge cause of infection in tattoos). Use an unscented lotion, soap without perfume or alcohol, and don’t over-do it. Make sure you clean it between everytime you put any ointment on it.
Maybe try an ointment that’s made for surface wounds to prevent/fight infection if you can find one. Depends on your country, but in Europe there is one called Bacimycin that works well for minor infections or tattoos showing symptoms of a possible infection starting.
Hard to tell properly without seeing a picture, but there you go :p
