I have a total of 4 tattoos on me- all of them Japanese kanji representing certain things I believe in (hence my username, Kanji_Man66 😉 ).
They have all healed beautifully, and I followed my artist’s instructions to the letter.
However, once my tattoos healed, I wondered what would be the best thing to use on them to keep them looking vibrant and bold, as well as keep them healthy and to preserve them for years to come.
I know the basics for tattoo care after your tat has healed- Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight (if you do, make sure to use a high level SPF sunscreen to protect your tattoo from fading), avoid getting it sunburned, avoid tanning beds, and if you do use them, use sunscreen. And I follow all these things.
There are so many aftercare products out there to use on a tattoo during the healing process and after the healing process: Tattoo Goo (Tattoo Goo Salve, Tattoo Goo Renew), CAM Originial Tat Wax, After Inked Lotion, H2O Ocean Tattoo products, etc. There are also the basic unscented lotions you can use, like Lubiderm unscented, or like Aveeno unscented lotion.
I’ve experimented with some of these. I like Cam Original Tat Wax, it does have natural ingredients, makes your tats shine, and is supposedly good for them.
But I’m looking for recommendations on tattoo aftercare products after your tattoos are already healed. I know I may get 20 different answers, but it gives me options to work with, and people who have been inked a long time before I have more experience in these matters than I do. So any suggestions or advice would be helpful. Thanks!
Treat them as you treat your normal skin. Drink plenty of water, keep your skin moisturized with a good moisturizer and use plenty of sunscreen when outside.
Avoid products with the word tattoo in them it is a gimmick to separate you from your money.
