Hey guys!! Just got my first session in for a leg sleeve on Friday. I was using Aquaphor for 2 days and started noticing tiny red spots on the tattoo lines. I’ve switched to non-fragrance Lubriderm at the moment…but I’m just a bit worried about the spots. I’m concerned it’ll affect the look of the tat once healed. Attached a picture.
Whatcha guys think?

Welcome to the forum!
I have used Aquaphor with good results. I have recently switched to non petroleum based products. I do use Cetaphil and Lubriderm with tea tree oil mixed in for a few days after I’m done with the plastic wrap. (I dry wrap) Then just straight moisturizer.
To answer your question, I don’t know if it’s normal, but it’s happened to me on several occasions with no adverse effects. You should be okay.
Thx for the reply! I’m hoping it’s just my skin’s reaction to the ink and shaving of my legs (pretty damn hairy haha). I just don’t want the lines being affected because the artist did such a great job. Can’t wait til it’s healed and head for my next session!
Mild folliculitis. It’s pretty normal. Just treat it gently, follow Sam’s advice, and wear clean clothes and sleep on clean sheets.
Like Greykittylove said your skin is just pissed at you no worries
Thx for the replies everyone. Here’s more of a full shot(s) of the tattoo-

Can’t wait til it’s done
Looks pretty cool!
That’s going to be a nice piece when it’s done. Any time frame for completion?
(I’ve got 66 hours in my leg since last June)

You mean something like this?

Wow 66 hours!?! Damn! The artist thinks 3-4 more sessions at usually 4 hours/session. I have time to squeeze in one more session in 2 weeks before I head out for vacation end of July. I’m thinking I can finish this late August/early Sept.

Working around four existing tattoos made for a slow start, but the pace is picking up now.
Are you planning a lot of color?
Planning on red for the koi fish and still deciding what to do for the lotus flowers. The artist was saying either purple or because there’s a total of three…maybe purple, blue, and pink. Still on the fence about it
