hi everyone, new to the forums. i got my first today like an hour and a half ago..just a small peice that took 30 mins to do…the artist covered the tattoo with cling film and told me im allowed to take off the bandage after 2 hours but he would reccomend me keeping it on till the next morning, however after a bit of googling. i read somewhere that cling film (saran wrap) is very bad for the tattoo because it restricts air…i bought bepanthem for the after care..so should i take off the cling film or keep it on till the morning? also, the artist told me to replace the cling film with a new one…should i keep using cling film or not? thanks in advance guys!

Hey. You should take off the saran wrap. Only put it on while you sleep, if that. The only reason they put the saran wrap on is for when it weeps (when ink bleeds out), but if you don’t mind getting small amounts of ink on stuff, you should take it off. Let it breathe. That’s my 2 cents anyway. Hope this helped! Have a great day, and welcome to the forum.

everyone is different…for instance, i have to saran wrap my tattoos for the first 3 days. washing them about every 4-6 hours with hot water and clear scent and dye free antibacterial soap. i have can only use a and d ointment(thin layer) or h2ocean lotion. anything else i will breakout in a burning rash. my body is weird but my tattoos heal just fine like that. if someone would try this it may not work out so well.

Hiya. Bepanthen is magic stuff!! Been recommending it for years. It doesnt let a heavy scab form, providing the tattoo hasnt been overworked. Cling wrap is basically used until you can get home and give it a good wash and start applying the cream.
Some people apply waaaay too much, which will cause excess weeping as your new tattoo is still an open wound for afew days until the skin layers start to repair. Put on a small amount & work it in lightly.
Keep using it for the next week or so. It will stop your tattoo from drying out and getting itchy etc.
