So, I’m new to the Tattoo Industry. I started an appentice ship in ’11 at a low end street shop. I’m now licensed to a decent shop in North GA. Story short- I love the industry. Art is a passion and emotional outlet for me. However, I find with it now being a job that the ‘money, money, money’ aspect sort of ruins it for me. I’m thankful to have a job in the industry but honestly I couldn’t care less about the money. I’m conflicted on if I should pursue it.
There is a chain of shops in my area that have lost some really good artists because of the ever increasing pressure to make the “home office” more money.
Welcome to the forum. Are you skilled at tattooing or you just pumping out mediocre stuff? It’s a tough question but can lead to your answer.
If you really have a knack for tattooing keep at it, travel a bit find a shop that values the art not the money.
Post a link to some of your work.
Unfortunately I don’t have much for a portfolio because I just recently got my license (December). I had a ‘falling out’ after my first apprenticeship when the owner sold off all the equipment (claiming it was stolen) that I purchased and then closed the shop. I’m still in the learning process so even though I’m licensed I still prefer to watch vs. doing it myself.
You don’t even have an instagram?
I run the “@gatattooers” instagram page and id be interested in seeing your stuff also.
I actually don’t use Instagram or Twitter. No one at the shop I work at uses Instagram.
