    Hi,

I am a 32 year old, father of four, looking to have inked my first tattoo, something that represents my four awesome kids (3 boys, one girl). The problem is, I have NO ideas on what I would like to have as a design! I have always loved tattoos, but I’be never seen anything that caught my eye that I would like…..permanently. Any ideas, and I mean ANY, would be appreciated…..thanks.

Some combination of all four of their Chinese zodiac signs might be cool.

    Welcome to the forum!

The gallery here has thousands of photos. Check them out.

Personally, I would look at each child for their best trait and have that represented. And please no portraits.

    Welcome to the forum!

Start thinking about the things you love to do with them, or their favourite things. It doesn’t have to be literal, either, because whatever image you get YOU will know the meaning behind it. I have a beautiful hummingbird and hibiscus flowers on one shoulder, but it is how I represented my dog’s personality rather than a picture of a dog. I know what it means to me, and to the rest of the world it is just a beautiful tattoo.

It is important that you find the best artist that you can. Then talk to them about what ideas you want to represent. They may come up with something brilliant that you wouldn’t, because you won’t be the first person to come to them with an idea but no pictures. It’s what they do.

I have actually seen a couple that look OK but I would say 98% of zodiac tattoos are candidates for the laser.
I love animals here are my babies

Cuties!! It looks like you washed one in hot water and it shrunk.

It takes a big man to walk a small dog.

You guys sure do hijack threads a lot.

    Back to the op.

This is a very personal question. I hear people all the time say they want to get tattooed but don’t know what they want. I tend to not encourage this behavior….especially in a “virgin”. Combining the fact that its your first tattoo and an emotional representation of your children is going to be extremely difficult.
    Two suggested options…..
    A. Get a tattoo for yourself not pertaining to your kids First. Break the ice. And wait till you know exactly what you want for your kids tattoo.
    B. For some reason as soon as I read about the four kids this popped into my head.

    Those are adorable. Statement retracted.

Anyway, Chinese zodiac is based on animals and interesting legend and determined by the birth year itself. Things like rabbits and oxen only look as stupid as you choose. Greek/Roman zodiac usually looks retarded. Agreed.
