    Hi everyone,

I just got a new tattoo 4 days ago and realized on Friday that some of the lines look fuzzy – I called the inker and he mentioned it would only make sense to pass by when the healing process is finished, since it can disappear by itself. Here is a picture: http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/6348/62jr.jpg

What are your thoughts? Can this really improve over the coming days / weeks? Or does it look like a blowout?

    Many thanks in advance.

It looks like it’s more or less entirely blown out, but he’s right in that you need to wait at least a full month before you can truly see how it will look.

Thanks ArniVidar for your reply, I assume this can be corrected by re-tattoing the lines?

What can and can’t be done will only become apparent once it’s all healed and the colors have faded to their final shade.. which can take anywhere from a month to three months. Most of it may become utterly invisible once it’s healed.

Would love to see a pic of the complete piece. What is it?

Here it is the cobra: http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/6070/c6ah.jpg

All was fine the first day, it really just started on the second day… Is there any chance that the color will further blur respectively that the blowout will get worse? Or can blowouts just occur in the beginning and not become worse?

It’s even more on the “top”. Some of it disappear, but not all. It can be fixed, but only if this is a creative artist. Byt the looks of it, he’s not under that category.

Just give it time and see what it does. There’s nothing you can do to undo what’s done, so there’s no point in spending the next few months agonizing about it. Take care of that tattoo of yours, and in the meantime try to find a better tattoo artist for your inevitable next piece 🙂

    Welcome to the forum!

That is one of the worst blowouts I’ve seen. It’s caused by the tattoo needles being pushed in too deep.
Wait AL LEAST a month reevaluate it. I would definitely find somebody else to repair it.

    Good luck, keep us posted!

Welcome to the forum. These guys are giving you good advice. Nothing to do now but wait for a while to see how bad it is once it’s healed.

And they are also right about finding someone else to fix it for you later. I had some bad blowout on my 2nd tattoo (there are pics of it, the lily, in my album). Went back to the same artist to have it fixed for free and she “fixed” it by adding a really crappy shadow. It actually looked better before her “fix”. The picture in my album is before she “fixed” it.

The experience taught me to look for better talent in a tattoo artist, because there is a lot of really great talent out there.

I don’t think it’s THAT bad but yes it has more blowout than you’d expect. Its still a decent piece and will look better when healed.

Looks like some blown lines to me but as said above wait until it heals before passing final judgement. A skilled tattooist could go over the blown lines giving them weight (thickening them) this could hide the blow outs.

Thanks everyone for the advise. How long should I wait before making a final judgement?

I am really surprised as the inker is quite famous – can blowouts also be caused by skin issues?

Like rosacea or leprosy? … Yes. Seriously, what kind of skin issue? And did you mention this to the tattoo artist?

And I’d wait until it was healed and go from there.

…. Yes. Yes they can. Oh my god. Did you mention this?
A NUMBER of conditions can affect the way your tattoo heals. This really needs to be mentioned to your artist and when asking advice!
