I seriously doubt anyone will answer you on any tattoo forum. They will advise that the only proper way to get into this art is to get an apprenticeship.

Buying tattoo machines is so 1999. Look, with the invention of the internet and MP3s, along with autotune, tape players and guitar strings are relatively cheap on Craigslist. Give them a try.
