First of all, Hi, I’m new here but i gotta say i like the forums and i will be coming here often. Now on to the reason of this post.
I want to get my first tattoo, and ive spent months choosing between ideas and i finally came to one i like, it has meaning and should turn out looking nice.
What i want to do is have the words “This Darkened Heart it bleeds fast for all my family” in a circle around a heart, one looking realistic rather than the normally drawn one, and with names etched into the heart of my family members that were close to me and have passed away, i plan to expand on it as more pass away as a memorial. I want to place it on the top right corner of my back.
Can i get ideas from any experts on pictures, placement, or any ideas to enhance the tattoo in any way?
I like this heart, however not with cuts or bleeding http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b40/iamminime2001/l_0cc0819625b645d2bceaf5aa889b398a.jpg
Thanks in advance for any ideas =)
Hi
Yes I have a few suggestions about the tattoo.
Excuse my if I seem blunt – it is not to be nasty but I just want you to get the best you can from it.
First of all if you have a circle around it you are limiting the number of names that you could fit into the shape of the tattoo.
Secondly how do you intend to inscribe the names? Directly onto the heart? In scrolls?
If you do scrolls be careful any partner does not think that you are walking around with an ex’s name in the scroll.
Thirdly – Placement.
The size of the tattoo is going to be the key area – if you have names they need to be clearly read and if you want to add to it, you are going to need a large tattoo.
Your back is the biggest canvas you have and I always suggest as a first tattoo it is not a good place to have one as you may in future wish a backpiece.
Also it is a heart and if it is on your back it sends a mixed message 1. Here are the memories of those who have passed. 2. It is on my back and I cannot be bothered to look at it everyday.
I would suggest maybe a large chest piece so that the heart is over your own heart – it sends a much more positive note.
Fourth – Sensitivity
Whilst I think it is a very unique concept and would give it 10/10 for orig you have to think through the impact that such a ‘dark’ theme would have on your surviving family members.
Would they think it was in good taste?
How does it sound to say smile and say ‘Hey I got a piece free here for your name when you die!’ – Ppl ain’t stupid and may think you are a ghoul.
How many do you intend to add I am 32 I have lost 3 brothers, both parents, 3 grandparents, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, 6 cousins and 8 friends.
I simply wouldn’t have enough free skin and frankly it would depress the shit out of me looking at that list everyday.
I think conceptually it is a great idea for a tattoo and I really wish you the best if you intend to get it but consider the above before you commit.
Take Care
Matthew
Well thanks for the suggestions, Any other way i could fit that text onto there? I really want it on there. I plan to inscribe the names directly onto the heart, it will have more meaning that way. As to how i would fit the people i plan to only fit the ones that have made me who i am today and had a real impact on my life, Right now there would be one name on it, My grandfather. My family is very understanding about my decisions and i already talked to most of them about it and they thought it was great i wanted to tribute a part of my body to those who made me who i am. I do really like your idea on placement though, Thanks =)
