    This question has probably been asked a million times on here but i can find it if it has…. :confused:

    I’m looking to get a yellow rose on inside of my wrist and just want to be sure that the yellow wont fade and look like an old bruise after a while…..or is there a particular yellow ink that works better on white skin??

    Cheers guys

    Hi PiggyTubba

    You are in luck – I actually research tattoo inks as part of my PhD

    Yellow – Perhaps one of the most difficult pigments to replicate the ingredients can vary massivley.

    The ones to avoid because of their toxicity are;

    Cadmium Yellow, which is a sulphide often found in batteries and for colouring plastics.

    Chrome Yellow, this is a heavy metal (not rock music), which contains lead chromate or sometimes lead sulphate. These are highly toxic on contact with skin and can cause burning, scarring, and may cause cancer.

    Curcuma Yellow is a common tropical plant grown in India and is cultivated for the dye it produces. It is also known as Turmeric. This is perhaps the safest of the pigments to use in yellow ink.

    If you want my honest advice – it don’t make a good colour for large areas becauise it simply fades out too quickly and can end up looking like a puke coloured bruise,

    It is good for small bits or highlights.

    Check out chapter 8 of my ebook (click sig) if you want more info on inks.

    Hi

    Just to clarify i am talking 10 years down the line and you can always re-shade (if you really want a full yellow). it is justa really high maintenance colour you cannot get away with leaving.

    Have you considered maybe adding orange and drop shading it into yellow highlights?
