Hi Mate . Welcome. How about a portrait for each band member, including the Riders On the Storm quote over the top of your shoulders. Black & grey shades. Crazy as thunder & lightning going on for some background effect. Thought id chuck that your way bud? 😀

I understand how hard it can be, trying to decide on an image. It’s another reason why a good tattoo design is something that is well thought out and not just a hasty decision which you might later regret. Asking for advice can be a bit sketchy, because only you know what you really like. A Morrison portrait, maybe with a storm theme and a horse? Hard to say. Go to google images and type in “riders on the storm” and browse through all the images and maybe get some ideas from that. Often the best designs are a combination of things. Inspiration can be taken from a ton of sources! Having seen the Doors myself, both before and after Morrison’s death, I was pretty heavily influenced by their music. But my choice of a design might not be the same as yours. Search around a lot and take your time.

I think it was 1969 in Boston when Morrison was still alive. Then a few years later after his death, also in Boston, I saw the band without him, just Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore at an outdoor concert. It was pretty wild…the opening act was Dr. John the Night Tripper! 😀

If I had to do a Doors tattoo, I’d consider doing a Morrison portrait, the one where he’s holding his hand out in front of him, and I’d have the artist wrap a big snake around the portrait and the hand. But that’s just me. 🙂
