After months of research and deliberation, i went to speak with an artist yesterday. He seemed like a good guy, and i think his previous work will mesh well with what i want done. I left some reference artwork for him to start drawing.
i just have one question that’s troubling me… regarding the artist/customer dynamic. What if i don’t really like the drawing he makes? Or (what is more likely to happen) if i like some things, and would like to tweak others… how open should they be to changes (it is, after all, going to be on MY body), and how open should i be to accepting the artwork as THEIRS? Is it unreasonable to want to see one or two revisions before the real deal?

Your tattoo artist should always be open to tweaks and modifications of the original drawing. Most are mature enough to realize that it’s not a negative commentary on their artwork, but rather a personal preference to which you have every right. Revisions are not at all unreasonable! Be committed to getting exactly what you want (hell, it’s permanent). Best of luck to you.
