    hey all,

i wanna get a daruma 1/4 sleeve on my left shoulder and i want some other things along with it. i’m going to get some wind and clouds and a cherry blossom, but does anyone else have any ideas? i read in a book sometime ago and it said that flowers with japanese tattoos are very tricky, there are some things you just can’t put on a tattoo because you like it.

so what can i put on alongside my daruma without it looking off? peony? lotus?

will be an interesting tattoo , you could have acer leafs instead of cherry blossoms .
they are a japanese tree and i have seen the leafs put in wind bars before
you could have green , orange or red ones

    Hi

I hope this helps a bit..

Well it really depends what you want your tattoo to signify.

A lotus is used to represent life or the spirit of life. These would rarely be used in a scene that depicts death or suffering.

Cherry blossoms – represent the passing of life or time in a sense of fleeting passage.

Peony is used to represent honour or riches or a sense of good fortune.

Ume blossoms (Japanese Plum blossoms) are only tattooed if the tattoo is done in the spring as this is when they bloom (a very traditional artist only). They represent a charm against evil.

They can be used in scenes where a warrior is warding off evil or fighting evil. Never used in a death scene.

Acer Leaves โ€“ These tend to show autumn a time of peace and solitude for thinking.

i’m getting it with one eye and for my ambitions and to keep going despite failures. along with it i wanted to put the cherry blossoms (because i’m currently going under a new stage in my life) and peony for luck.

do you guys think the ume blossom/lotus/acer will fit well with this?
