Dont comment if you’re just going to suggest I go to my tattooist, he will obviously get final cut but I’m trying to refine my idea atleast a little bit before I get that far..

I’m wanting a back piece done. Primary image being a river red gum or just generally a gum tree down one side of my back with the branches and leaves reaching up. I’m looking to get a half sleeve done at some point after and would like the design to incorporate the leaves from the backpiece if possible.
In the foreground I’d like a rocking chair and/or a kangaroo laying down. Pref rocking chair if only one.
Would also like to incorporate the phrase below if practical.
Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair,
It gives you something to do,
But it doesn’t get you anywhere.

My problem is that I can’t find ANY gum tree tattoos other than a few leaves and my artsy skills are shite to be kind.
I’m also a sucker for the 40’s pin ups and this chickadee on the bench worrying about rain would do fine instead of a rocking chair (or drawn as a double seated rocker). I haven’t been able to picture how to draw the two styles together.

If someone could put my ideas together even a rough sketch it’d help me immensely.

    Greetings,
The gum tree idea is pretty cool. Have you searched for gum tree paintings or watercolors?

I’ve heard of a Baobab tree that is pretty unique. I’m not sure if they are Austrailian though. I went to school for horticulture and I tend to go after the more natural tattoos. I’ve thought about a Joshua tree tattoo, but I have no designs yet.

I like to have a variety of sketches and photos to present to my artist. Then we toss ideas around.

    Keep us posted.

If you can’t just take your idea and some reference pics to your artist you may have chosen the wrong tattooist. This is your tattooists job! I know this isn’t what you want to hear but I speak only the truth.
The tattoo sounds pretty cool make sure you have the right tattooist.

Seriously, do this. ONLY a tattoo artist should be putting your ideas together. If you get someone else to do it (for example people on this forum) you’ll end up with something that will probably not translate well into a tattoo. Your artist may still tattoo it for you, but it will look better if he/she is the only artist working on your piece. Again, its not what you want to hear but it will mean you get a better tattoo.
