    I recently got a tattoo on my left forearm in memory of my late grandma (it is her initials JF and some music notes from her favorite hymn). I love it and it has sentimental meaning to me but it is feeling a bit unfinished. I’m not 100% satisfied with saying it is “done” BUT I have no idea what it is missing!!

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (drawings especially!). i work in a corporate office so i don’t want it to get too big or flow onto the top of my arm but it definitely needs something. I’ve attached a picture for reference!

    Hi

    First of all have you finished grieving for your loss. I ask because sometimes we keep adding to ink (especially memerorial tattoos) because we are trying to fill that hole. I only ask as you may want to consider waiting a while if it is a recent loss.

    If you are certain you wish to add to it there are several things you can add;

    The tattoo is nice but towards the bottom you could add some more colour shading to make it look more complete eg a smoke effect.

    You could have the notes placed on encompassing scroll of paper so it reads like a hym sheet.

    You could add something which is representative of your grandmother’s spirit eg a dove.

    You could add in loving memory at the top.

    My (personal) advice would actually to be rework the colour shading and add some highlights to the notes and maybe some drop shading on the initials.

    Take Care
    Matthew

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    I actually got the tattoo on the 5-year anniversary of her death – so I’ve been thinking about it for a while 🙂
