I was wondering a few things about the Film.
We know Jacob was in pugatory, but there is so much sybolism and cryptic things I don’t understand.
1. Louie. Was he an Angel? or some other instrument of god?
When Jacob seems to be trapped in that hospital. Jessy says she called every hospital in the city. Louie comes to Jacob’s rescue, heals his back. Tells him what he needs to know to stop seeing the demons.
2. Jessy is she good or evil? is she a demon? she burns the picture of Jacob’s family. is this to help him?
3. Why did the coin strangley move when his friend in the car blew up? Why did his friend blow up in the car?

First, He wasn’t ever in purgatory. Everything that happened in the movie was his last thoughts as he died. It was literally his life flashing before his eyes. I took the Jesse portion to be completely fictional. Maybe he worked with her at the post office and thought she was sexy so she made her way into his mind. He was in so much pain throught the movie because he was dying and his mind was fighting it. I think Louie was just another part of his subconscious. The part that knew he was dying and was preparing the rest of his mind to accept it. Any of the strange stuff that happened was hints that none of the film was “real”. Really theres not a whole lot symbolic about the movie. It just goes in really strange directions and makes you try to figure out whats real and what isnt. In the end none of it is. Its all just scraps of a dying soldiers memory.
