Hello I’m 19 and in the Navy. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for about 5 months now and I been trying to find something
but nothing has really jumped out at me. I had been training to become a rescue swimmer for about two years before the navy.
It was my dream, and the day my mentor called me saying I had been selected from the top 5% in the nation was possibly the greatest feeling
of Accomplishment I had ever had. I went to rescue swimmer school and made it through 3 weeks of the 5 week course when I tore my
rotatory cuff in my left shoulder. I was disqualified from the program and medically dropped from the school house. My should is getting better
but it feels like I have a knife stuck in it.
Im not posting my story for pity I just want yall to have a better idea of what im asking for
I want a tattoo that shows my struggle and reminds me that I didn’t quit.
I had been previously been thinking about a knife sticking out with a ribbon tied on saying “Bent but not Broken”
If yall could throw out some ideas I would be more that grateful.
You won’t get a lot of love on here about text tattoos. It’s boring and unimaginative. A nice piece of art is much better:)
How about a salmon type one. Salmon have a struggle swimming up stream, making jumps up waterfalls, dodging bears?
Thanks like I said This is my first tattoo and im just looking for a good place to start.
The whole text thing I dont really care about. I just looking for something meaningful.

I like the salmon idea.
Welcome to the forum volack. My wife is going through rotator cuff rehab now. She had a 100% tear. Good luck, keep us posted.
How about you get a tattoo of a knife in your shoulder. Or a rescue swimmer in full gear getting the rug pulled out from under him.
