Hi, I’m new. I don’t know if this is the right place to post this.

I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo for a few years now, but I never found anything that I would like to get. Not to long ago (a year ago, maybe) I came across one design that I really like. It’s of a black flower(?) and, from what I have seen, it’s always located in the shoulder. I have seen it on a few people (2 or 3) and they all have it on the same place. I’m guessing it has some kind of meaning? I have tried to look for it and any info about it, but I have found none. I was hoping if maybe one of you might now what it is/means. Any info on it would be great. Thanks

Here’s the best picture I have of it:

    Hi

It is a tribal piece (true tribal not made up) commonly known as a Borneo Rose.

The inside represents the life cycle and there are variations of them. They are always tattooed in pairs across the shoulders, back, buttocks etc to protect from evil.

Off the top of my head there is about 6-7 tribes in Borneo each with a distinct pattern for this tattoo.

The Iban were the tribe most commonly known for tattooing – usually the heads of captured warriors in the good ol’ days.

    Hope that helps.

    Just google image borneo rose.

    Take care
    Matthew
