    I want a cross tattoo with the words “I Will Fear No Evil” branded into the horizontal bar of the cross. If I brand first then tattoo over it will the brand gt inked our will it not take? I want the brand to be dark like the cross so would it be better to get the tattoo first or the brand?
    If I brand on top of the ink will it take out the ink?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Shua

    First of all I take it this is your first branding? Also is it your first tattoo?

    I ask because branding is not for the faint hearted it is one of the most extreme form of body mods that a person can do with regards to the risk of it going wrong and infection.

    Check out my free e-book it will explain about both scarification and branding in detail.

    With regards to the questions;

    Branding is a deep burn – tattoos can rarely be done over them as the scar is too thick and deep. Also it would be at least 12 mths minimum before you should get the area tattooed as it can take that long for the brand to settle into scar tissue beneath the surface – they can crack and tear below the skin.

    You could consider strike branding which taks longer and is not as deep.

    If you brand over tattoo ink you will just destroy the tattoo.

    If you want my serious advice – do not do it.

    Branding is unpredictable and you cannot always tell whether you will get keloid scarring or not. The infection rate is really high.

    Also from experience it hurts like mega bastard – way more than a tattoo. (I had some red hot metal on my leg in a car crash – I was prepared to cut through my leg if necessary to get it free from it.

    If you really must do it get a professional to do this – and I mean a pro – you do it yourself you will just end up with an ugly mess of a scar.

    Take care
    Matthew
