I got this tat back in the early 90’s. I’ve had about 5 laser treatments to remove it. This tat was real dark and included a lot of blacks, reds, etc. My last treatment was about 4 to 5 years ago. After my last treatment, not much color was removed.
As you can see, there is mainly blue and green remaining.
I was curious if laser technology has changed any in the last 4 to 5 years to where the blues and greens can be removed? If so, what kind of laser should I look for?
Thanks for the help!!

Hi Dk
Lasers have made some large improvements with tattoo removal – that said they still struggle with green as a colour.
As for the type it really depends on your skin type. country you are in and how much you are willing to spend.
The tattoo would easily cover over now with a decent tattoo and might be a much cheaper option as you maybe looking at another 5-8 sessions on that.

I can tell you you will need alot more than 5 treatments. I had a simple black/grey tattoo that took about 14 treatments.
Hi
Just to clarify it really depends on the skin, pigment and what is contained within the inks.
Some black inks have heavy metal compounds that are a bastard to breakdown so take major treatments. It also depends on the type of laser used , frequency and how bothered about scarring you are.
I have know ppl have a tattoo taken in 8 sessions and others in 20 sessions.
My advice is always – speak to a professional dermatologist or similar medical professional about tattoo removal – it is not an exact science and everybody is different.

Thanks for the comments.
Matthew, is there a certain type of laser that I should ask for? I know there are different kinds and some work better on certain colors than others.
D
Your laser place should carry a variety of lasers for different inks. They would be the experts to ask.
Hi sorry for the delay.
Rockysmum is correct ou need to speak with an expert on which laser is best as it depends on the ink and the pigment of your skin.
I do know the different types of lasers used but each person reacts differently and you need a medical pro for safety.
