My first tattoo! I want the following poem (or most of it), probably down my spine, but I don’t just want a huge block of text. Any ideas?
    I’m Asking for Silence

    Now leave me alone.
Now learn to do without me.

I’m going to close my eyes.

And I want five things only,
    five favorite roots.

    One is endless love.

The second is to see autumn.
I cannot be if the leaves
don’t fly and fall to earth.

    The third is solemn winter,
the rain I loved, the caress
of fire on the wild coldness.

    In fourth place, summer
    round as a watermelon.

The fifth thing is your eyes.
    Matilde mine, beloved.
I don’t want to sleep without your eyes,
I don’t want to be if you’re not looking at me:
    I’d give up spring
for you to keep on looking at me.

That, friends, is all I want.
    Nearly nothing and almost everything

    Hi

That is a fair amount of text to have done. As you state the easiest way would to have it as a straight block of text that ran down your back.

I do have some suggestions of placement and style – but the key thing is finding an artist that you are comfortable with, and to know the correct size and font as this will have a major impact on the size and style of the tattoo.

The first idea is to have it more spread out as back piece. Verse 1 could be on your left shoulder blade. Verse 2 could be on the right.

Then from this each verse could be tattooed so that it forms an upside down triangle down your back.

The second idea is to have the words done in a spiral or loop that runs across your back and weave down your spine. Depending on font size you may not get all the poem in.

Third Idea is to have the words form the shape of something important to you. An example is that my friend has a hebrew prayer in the shape of a newborn baby.

I hope these at least give you some ideas.

    Take Care

    Matthew
