I’m new to all this tattooing stuf but its always interested me a great deal. I got an idea for a tattoo about 8 months ago.
My idea was to get a tattoo of a name on my left wrist. At the time I thought of it, the idea was pretty origional but it seems quite a few people seem to be doing this.
Do you think its still a good idea and does anyone know roughly how much it will cost and how long it might take to have done?

    Thanks x

    Hi,

A tattoo on the wrist is something that needs to be carefully considered as regards to your work/career.
Many people and sadly employers do not take kindly to tattooing and would insist that you keep them covered if dealing with the public.

Other issues to consider is the name – is it somebody you will be atatched to forever? You have to think what if I broke up with this person, they kill my dog, steal my toothpaste etc.

The originality is something I would not worry about – we all get tattooed for personal reasons and our pleasure – it is a bonus if others enjoy it. If you are wanting it for purely fashion reasons I would recomemnd a reconsideration – fashion trends come and go but inked skin is forever.

The cost is dependant on the artist and depth/size/difficulty the more complex a tattoo the longer it will take to do. Most artists charge by the hour in the UK this is around £40-£50 (some are cheaper some are more expensive).

A single name could be done within 30 mins or less or as much as an hour depending on the size and detail.

As to whether it is a good idea – that is something only yourself can answer – I do not try to discourage ppl from doing what they want but if you have considered all the above and still want it then go for it.

    Good Luck

    Thanks for the reply,
Yeah I thought about all that a little while ago and was still determined to get it. I have always sworn to myself I would never get anyone elses name on my body but as I was thinking of getting my own name it didn’t bother me as much.

The one thing that did throw me off was the fact it may hinder my work life as I’m thinking of going into the veterinary industry lol

I’ve decided not to get one on my wrist but to get a similar one by my hip with a butterfly, that way its still there but no one can see it.
