Hey all! I’m new to this forum- and new to the tattooing industry. I just got my first tattoo last night and I’m wondering what you all make of it. It’s nothing impressive, just a simple black outline. I really like it, my friends do too… I was just interested in seeing what real enthusiasts thought.
Without further ado,

Heylo there! First tat huh? Fun stuff I have a soft spot for wolves. It’s simple yet satisfying. Most small tats look like cookie cutter ink posted on every tattoo parlor’s wall. But it’s not bad, the line work could use some retouching to look more crisp. Other than that I have no complaints. What was the inspiration and why on your hip? Did it take long? Welcome to the forum and maybe if you take a look around you’ll get the gumption to try something bigger!!
Well, my family’s last name is Russian, but when translated into English it means Wolf. Our family crest also has a howling wolf on it. All the males in our family have had the characteristics of wolves; ferocious, independent, leaders when they need to be… Oddly enough we all have very angular faces as well. I’ve always felt a connection to wolves and felt like this would be a great way to objectify it.
I would like to retouch it in a few months, make the lines crisper and maybe do a little bit more shading. I chose my hip because I’ve always felt like that was the most aluring place to put a tattoo. I am a competitive swimmer so it will really stand out when I am on the block. It took about 45 minutes to finish it up. When he was doing the head and tail, which were right over the bone, it hurt a little bit- but mostly it wasn’t anything unbearable.
i was just thinking if maybe some background stuff would work with it.
do you have any p[lans to expand it further?
I haven’t thought about it, but I would certainly be open to that. What do you have in mind?
normally i would say something with possibly a moon or mountains etc but that is just really over stereotypical
as you ahve said this is really a more family related thing due to your name i would say you continue the theme of ferocity or independance and possibly have your coat of arms built into it .
I would probably consider just some black and grey shading around the edges to begin with and let it grow from there.
I actually do want to add on to it now that you have mentioned it. I’ll get it shaded but I want to expand it more… any ideas?
