    Hi everyone,

I’m brand new to the forum as well as to tattooing. I’ve always been into art my whole life, and have done every medium thought of, and thought tattooing would be the ultimate! I got all my gear about a year ago and have been praticing on oranges/grapefruits, drawing a lot etc. etc. and recently have started on skin. Some stumbling points for me. Shading/washes and needle selection. I’ve used 3R, singles, 8R, 9T & 14R for the most part. I think I’m doing ok considering how long I’ve been going, and cleanliness for me is #1. When I do my washes I set up three caps usually, and do one with like 4 drops, one with 2 or 3 and then one with 1 drop. This gives me a range of shades to choose from, but I’m struggling getting a nice clean transition from dark black shading to light shading. I just can’t seem to nail it. I’m sure it somes with experience, but I find I’m putting a lot of holes in skin, but the transition doesn’t seem to happen. Help please! (My thigh is the one taking the beating, no one else’s……)

    Cheers!, Needle-Canuck:confused:
