Hi there everybody =] this is my first post so I’m sorry if I’m bringing up an old thread! I was curious to know, as when I was younger I had a bit of a rough time and I used to self harm. Nowadays I’ve managed to break through all that and I now have a much happier life in which I never intend to leave! The thing is the scars are around 2 years old and over my forearm. Some are just silvery/white lines that are unraised or a bit indented and some are raised slightly and are a more reddy pink (or sometimes turn purple). Since then I’ve always had to wear bandages / long sleeves or armwarmers to cover them up which really brings me down as it stops me from being who I really want to be. Plus getting the countless “whats happened to your arm?” questions is just wearing thin. I don’t want a lecture on what I shouldn’t have done and I’d rather people not air their opinions of how my scars came about! Because although i regret what i’ve done i’d rather have harmed myself instead of ending up dead. Which I am glad of now! If anyone can post any advice or pictures of cover-ups / links / anything iit would be much much appreciated as i’m not sure how to go about this

if anyone needs pictures for an analysis please message me. I’d go into a tattoo parlour but i’d rather get my facts straight first, plus i don’t want to end up feeling like an idiot if they say its not possible ๐
Thankyou so much =]

Hi Jess. It is totally possible to tattoo over scars and burns. I also specialise in cosmetic tattooing, and find alot of my clients these days are to do with scarring or some sort of skin blemishing. I picture your arm as having alot of lines all over it from the wounds. As they are probably in all different lengths and directions?
Carefull planning of a design will be able to cover up these marks. Depending on how far up your arms they go. Go and see an artist who specialises in cover ups, and im sure these could be made to disappear with the right design to hide them. ๐
Yeah it is like that, they go from the start of my wrist to just below my elbow and range in directions length and thickness but they aren’t any thicker than about 3mm .. I’d say theres about 50ish but its difficult to count. I was thinking of designs that incorporate patterns & lines and i love the way indian mendhi tattoos are designed and thought maybe this would be possible? do you think something that intricate would cover them well & not ruin the design? I’ve heard that sometimes the ink bleeds and shifts on scars sometimes as the tissue is abnormal and I wouldnt want to make them look like a botched job. also, where would I start about looing for someone that specializes in cover ups? Thanks, jess xxxx
