Ok so i got my first tattoo yesterday. Its on my inner forearm and is a word in script about 3/4 inch big. It’s black with white highlights inside the letters.
I got the tattoo finished around 2:30, and the guy who did it put some of the ointment they give you on it. then told me to reaply it later. unfortunately, i got preoccupied all night and didnt, but just did a bit ago.
so, my questions are:
Now, on the paper he gave me it said a scab would form in 2 days, but i woke up this morning with one. Is this normal?
The tattoo looks a bit distorted on some of the letters now. for example, the inside of one of the D’s, it looks filled in whereas yesterday it was just skin colored. Is the scab causing this appearance? Will it return to normal when scab is gone?
Also, does this scab fall or peel off, or does it just heal and disappear?
You probably have dried it out a little quick so the scab will more than likely be ink and blood mixed.
You could have softened it up again by washing it gently and applying ointment but sounds like it wants to heel so just keep on with the application and let it do its stuff.
Yours may well scab up quite harsh from the sounds of it so you may get chunks falling off occasionally, keep an eye on your clothing, don’t wear wool or anything that snags easily.
It would normally peel off without you noticing much but a bit late for that.
Just let it do its own stuff now and it’ll be alright.
Up until about 15 years ago it was normal for tatts to really scab up and go crusty, but down to artists being alot more skilled and technical these days along with having new age gear and being more involved in aftercare this isn’t the case.
You’ll be fine.
