I will be getting this tattoo of Saint Michael http://www.mycatholictradition.com/images/St%20Michael%20the%20Archangel%202.jpg and I am still trying to decide where to get it. It will probably be 7-8 inches big. At first I wanted it on my back near the shoulder but now I kinda want it beside my abs on the oblique/ribs. I have one other tattoo on the left side of my chest. By the way I am a thin guy.

what about on the back of your calf? I think it might look kinda sharp on your back as you had suggested.

I’d say the flattest area of skin which is least exposed too light, so consider your muscle definition and regular clothing.

My girlfriend has this full back half sidal to rib piece (and St christopher on the other), I think if you are going to commit to a piece like this it is defo worth putting it on a very unstretched/foldable skin area. For the artist to put it on Stomache it is very difficult to allow for stretch with weight gain and loss when he is stretching your skin anyway, eyes and other detail can become distorted if on an area where movement is prone to stretch and shrinkage.
I have a detailed piece on my ribs and abs from only 10 year ago and now it looks as though she is winking rather than the original piece done (yes, because I’m a fat bastard now)
For such a piece I’d keep it leg/hip/shin/thigh.

P.S. My girlfriends isn’t exactly the same and is without Lucif’

I think you should put it on your back. Simply put, if you get a tattoo with dystinct features with a face and details, it should be in a place that will not stretch as much as another places. The ribs on a male change so much; you’ll gain weight, lose it, and it’s supposed to hurt like a bitch on skinny people.
