I know that their is a difference but why is it that Hip-Hop has to be categorized as “speaking the truth” or something to help better yourself. But Rap is just about selling drugs, how many women, and who is gettin shot today. (rap is just embrassing these days)

rap where there is not story hiphop makes u wanna dance with ryhmes spitting over music. southern rap made rap worse except for the heavy hitter like t.i. lil wayne and like 5 other ppl

Music has to be culturally relevant to the Hip-hop culture to be called “hip-hop music”. That’s the way most people define it. Hip-hop music usually combines two elements: rapping (a.k.a. emceeing) and DJing.
I find it very difficult when listening to music to discern hip-hop from rap (music). There’s a lot of gray area there.
I predict soon in the future that hip-hop and rap will become one category: rap.

Rap is usually more vulgar and has harder bass.
